Impossibly rare, and now in the hands of Fernando Alonso, the $11.7 million Pagani Zonda 760 Roadster Diamante Verde emerges in Monaco as a freshly acquired jewel with under 500 miles

Fernando Alonso has been spotted threading the familiar bends of Monaco behind the wheel of a 2017 Pagani Zonda 760 Roadster Diamante Verde, a one-of-one hypercar so rare it has barely surfaced in public. Previously listed with German exotic car specialists Mechatronic, with under 500 miles on the clock, Alonso is taking over stewardship of the car from its first and original owner. Based on recent sales of comparable Zonda models, the Diamante Verde is estimated to be worth somewhere around $11.7 million. Roughly 140 Zondas were ever built, and the Diamante Verde is among the most extraordinary of those.

Factory built to 760 specification as a genuine one-off and not an aftermarket conversion, it features a Carbo-Titan chassis and the Mercedes-AMG 7.3-litre V12 developing its full 760 horsepower. Its name recalls the brilliance and rarity of a jewel, and the bodywork is finished in emerald green carbon fibre using a unique paint process not replicated on any other Pagani. The hood was even borrowed from the Zonda 760LM.

It’s a fitting addition to Alonso’s impressive car collection. The Spaniard owns a LaFerrari in matte black, a McLaren P1, a Porsche 918 Spyder, the Holy Trinity of hybrid hypercars. He also owns a bespoke Aston Martin Valkyrie in Satin Racing Green, and the Aston Martin Valiant, a 745-horsepower, V12-powered machine born from his own personal commission to Aston Martin, of which only 38 were ever made.

He previously owned a Ferrari Enzo, sold in 2023 for upwards of $6 million, and also recently acquired a $10 million Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR. A two-time Formula One world champion, Alonso also won Le Mans in 2018 and 2019, and in 2020 tackled the Dakar Rally for the first time. The man simply cannot stop competing on some of the most prestigious stages of motorsport, and it seems that philosophy extends to his own cars as well.

Alonso is based in Switzerland rather than Monaco, but the Principality pulls him back constantly. Alonso’s Valiant has been photographed on its streets multiple times. On any given day you might pass any of the handful of other F1 drivers who live in Monaco, such as Lewis Hamilton, Lando Norris or Charles Leclerc. While some neighbourhoods have better car parks than others, Monaco’s supercar owners bring their own star auras to the mix.
