Even if you’re a millionaire writing Ferrari a blank check, you can’t buy the new special edition Piloti Ferrari 296 Speciale, unless you’re a professional racing driver

The Piloti Ferrari 296 Speciale might just be one of the most exclusive supercars that Ferrari has ever built, and it’s not because of its price tag or limited production numbers. It’s because of who can buy one. This special edition Ferrari is reserved solely for Ferrari’s client racing drivers. It’s the ultimate badge of honor for Ferrari race drivers, apart from their track-only Ferrari race cars.

Speaking of, each Piloti Ferrari 296 Speciale will wear the client’s race number of choice on its sides, as part of its special edition livery. Unveiled at the Circuit de la Sarthe ahead of the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans, this special edition celebrates Ferrari’s dominance in the World Endurance Championship. The timing couldn’t have been any better, considering Ferrari just won their third consecutive Le Mans Hypercar victory this year.

The Piloti Ferrari 296 Speciale wears bespoke livery derived from Ferrari’s Le Mans-winning 499P race car, with an Italian flag on the front bumper, a hand-painted WEC logo on the hood, and those customized race numbers we mentioned earlier.

If you’re wondering about the 51 on the hood of this debut model, it honours Ferrari’s 2023 Le Mans victory. The Piloti Ferrari 296 is available in four colors, with Rosso Scuderia, Blu Tour De France, Nero Dayton, and Argento Nurburgring making the cut. If you haven’t noticed, these are all motorsport-inspired paint shades in Ferrari’s prestigious motorsport history.

Based on the Ferrari 296 Speciale, with its 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 upgraded to 710 horsepower, the hybrid powertrain pushes a total of 877 horsepower, making it the most powerful rear-wheel drive Ferrari ever. Considering the 296 Speciale itself wears a price tag starting at $450,000, there’s no telling how expensive the Piloti Ferrari 296 is, though, as we’ve said, money isn’t the only concern when it comes to buying one.

To qualify for ownership of the Piloti Ferrari 296, buyers must be active participants in Ferrari’s Corse Clienti program or must be competing in Ferrari-endorsed race events. This makes this a special edition Ferrari that money simply can’t buy. Instead, a commitment to competitive racing is the only thing that matters. For Ferrari’s most dedicated racing clients, the Piloti Ferrari 296 Speciale represents the ultimate special edition that gives them exclusive recognition in the racing spirit at the heart of the brand.
