Ferrari has been careful in how it presents the project. Hypersail is described less as a racing yacht and more as an open innovation platform, shaped by collaboration between its engineering division, design studio, and naval architect Guillaume Verdier. That framing matters. It explains why the conversation revolves around systems, patents, and simulation rather than trophies or regattas. Under John Elkann, offshore sailing is positioned as the ultimate expression of endurance, aligning this project far more closely with Ferrari’s Le Mans-winning mindset than with any notion of leisure on water.

Design that carries both history and intent

The livery itself plays a more serious role than it first suggests. Ferrari’s Design Studio, led by Flavio Manzoni, has shaped the yacht to reflect the marque’s identity even under strict aerodynamic and hydrodynamic constraints. The silhouette draws from the proportions of the Ferrari Monza SP1 and Ferrari Monza SP2, while the surfaces of the coachroof echo the graphic architecture of the Ferrari 499P.
