Gaming billionaire Gabe Newell has brought an unusually personal touch to the Monaco Yacht Show this year, with an Aston Martin Valkyrie LMH endurance race car displayed aboard his newly delivered 364-foot superyacht, Leviathan. The #007 Valkyrie, wearing the colors of Newell’s Heart of Racing team, was spotted on an open deck of the Oceanco vessel at Port Hercule, creating one of the more unexpected combinations at this year’s show. It is an especially fitting pairing because Newell is not only the owner of Leviathan but also owns Oceanco, the Dutch shipyard that built it. Oceanco has confirmed that Leviathan is the largest yacht exhibited at the 2026 Monaco Yacht Show, where it is berthed at D02 on Quai Rainier III alongside the 305-foot Draak at D01.
Oceanco released an onboard video offering a closer look at Leviathan, and the Valkyrie LMH can be seen in the footage as part of the yacht’s extraordinary collection of technology and equipment. The video provides a sense of how radically different the vessel is from a conventional superyacht, moving through spaces designed as much around Newell’s interests as they are around luxury.
Among the details visible are a humanoid robot and a robodog carrying a serving tray, while the yacht’s enormous glass wall carries the names of nearly 3,000 people involved in bringing Leviathan to life. The vessel was delivered in November 2025 and is appearing in Monaco alongside Draak as Oceanco showcases a new build and a major rebuild together for the first time.
A superyacht with a genuine Aston Martin connection
The Valkyrie’s presence aboard Leviathan makes considerably more sense once Newell’s racing interests are taken into account. He founded The Heart of Racing, the team behind Aston Martin’s Valkyrie endurance program, which fields two Valkyries in the FIA World Endurance Championship. Aston Martin’s race program therefore gives Newell a direct connection to the car sitting on his yacht, rather than the display being merely a Monaco Yacht Show publicity stunt. The #007 car shown aboard Leviathan is the team’s Hypercar entry and has been raced in 2026 by Harry Tincknell and Tom Gamble, with Ross Gunn joining for selected endurance events.
The connection also extends to Newell’s family, with his son Gray Newell racing for The Heart of Racing in an Aston Martin Vantage AMR LMGT3. Gray stepped up to the World Endurance Championship in 2026 and shared the #23 Vantage with Jonny Adam and Eduardo Barrichello. At the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June, the trio finished third in the LMGT3 class, giving Gray a podium on his first appearance at the famous race. Aston Martin subsequently highlighted the result as The Heart of Racing’s first Le Mans podium.
The Valkyrie itself is unlike an Aston Martin Formula 1 car and is instead a purpose-built Le Mans Hypercar derived from the road-going Valkyrie. It uses a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter Cosworth V12, with its racing output restricted to 670 horsepower under the regulations.
The road car’s hybrid system is absent from the racing version, which instead uses a carbon-fiber survival cell, seven-speed sequential gearbox, carbon brakes, and bodywork designed for rapid changes during endurance races. The #007 finished eighth at Le Mans this year, while Tincknell and Gamble later finished fourth at the Circuit of the Americas, keeping the car firmly in the fight during its second WEC season.
Inside Newell’s floating laboratory
The onboard footage also reveals why Leviathan is considerably more than a giant luxury yacht. A fully equipped dive center is packed with diving equipment, reflecting its role within Newell’s Inkfish marine-research operation, while a research laboratory and a compact hospital give the vessel capabilities normally associated with expedition ships. The yacht has space for 12 guests and up to 43 crew, while its diesel-electric propulsion system incorporates a 5.3 MWh battery that can reportedly operate onboard systems at anchor for up to 10 hours without the generators running.
One of the most striking details is the huge glass installation bearing the names of almost 3,000 people who contributed to Leviathan’s construction. It recognizes everyone from Oceanco and design teams to the crew, specialist suppliers and other project partners, turning what could have been an anonymous piece of yacht architecture into a permanent record of the people behind the vessel.
There is even an Aston Martin-themed feature already inside the yacht in the form of an Aston Martin racing simulator, adding another subtle connection between Newell’s superyacht and his motorsport interests. Alongside it, the onboard video reveals the more futuristic side of Leviathan, including the humanoid robot and robodog, while the dive center showcases the equipment needed for the yacht’s oceanographic missions.
With a Valkyrie LMH sitting on the deck, the message is difficult to miss. Leviathan is not simply a luxury vessel owned by a racing enthusiast, but a floating expression of many of Newell’s interests, from endurance racing and advanced technology to deep-sea exploration.
