It pays to be a global superstar! And proving so is Katy Perry, who recently got named as godmother for Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest ship – Norwegian Prima. The cruise travel company announced the news on March 18 while making Perry fans hoot in praise!

As the designated godmother, the ‘American Idol’ judge will fulfil the tradition of blessing and naming Norwegian Prima. She will additionally perform at the christening ceremony and break a champagne bottle on Norwegian Prima’s bow for the good fortune of both the vessel and its guests.

The event is scheduled to take place on August 27, in Reykjavik, with the Norwegian Prima being the first ship to be christened in the Icelandic capital. The cruise ship – a 142,500 GT vessel further packs in the best of amenities and can accommodate 3,215 guests at double occupancy.
