This Formula One-inspired sports tender concept is a Bugatti of the boating world

If you mistake this boat for a hypercar concept, you won’t be the first one to do it. In fact, the vessel has been designed by Etienne Salomé, the same person who designed the jaw-dropping Bugatti La Voiture Noire — the world’s most expensive new car that debuted earlier this year. After penning stunning designs for Bugatti all these years, Etienne Salomé has turned his attention to the boating world and wants to revolutionize it with his bold designs. Under his eponymous new brand Salomé Yachts, the designer has revealed his first concept rendering called the Atlantic. Just like the Bugatti La Voiture Noire, the stunning yellow watercraft’s design is inspired by the Bugatti 1936 Type 57 SC Atlantic and its “all-of-a-piece” shape.

The most radical aspect of the Atlantic sports tender concept is its sculptural “flow-through hull’ that allows air to pass through to increase stability and reduce drag. The ultra-aerodynamic feature of the boat is inspired by F1 race cars and offers a new meaning to ‘flowing’ design. According to Designboom, the Atlantic boat features a Garmin glass cockpit that can accommodate nine passengers, and it is equipped with optional self-docking technology. Powering the boat will be a pair of 440-horsepower Volvo engines that can help it reach a top speed of 60 knots (just under 70 mph). The company plan to debut 12 examples of the 12-meter yacht at the 2020 Monaco Yacht Show.
