Watch out Bentley – The BMW 8 series Coupe is almost here


BMW is officially expanding its premium offerings. At the company’s AGM today, Harald Kruger, Chairman of BMW AG, announced the 8 series. A new family of cars which will replace the 7 series as the company’s flagship. “The BMW 8 Series Coupe will build on our tradition of luxurious sports coupes and add a genuine dream car to our line-up – a slice of pure automotive fascination,” says Krüger, looking ahead to the new model. “The 8 Series Coupe will underpin our claim to leadership in the luxury segment. I can tell you today that this will be a true luxury sports coupe.”

The teaser image shows the car partly from a side angle. An elongated bonnet and gentle curves that continue till the end of the car. It seems that the insignia ‘Halo’ ring daytime running lights may have been given an upgrade too. Not much is known except for the above image but from the looks of it, the Coupe would be an extremely stylish Grand Tourer. Interestingly this is not the debut of the 8 series as the company was selling the V12 850i and 4.4-litre V8 840i.from 1989 – 1999. The current BMW 8 series will be hitting the showrooms later in 2018.
