Indian billionaire tycoon Mukesh Ambani’s youngest son, Anant Ambani, married his longtime girlfriend early Saturday in what is being dubbed the most extravagant wedding in the world. With an estimated cost of $300 million, it’s quite obvious that the Ambanis spared no expense to make the wedding the most talked about event of this year. The guestlist featured some of the most prominent global leaders and celebrities, including former British Prime Ministers Boris Johnson and Tony Blair, Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, American wrestler and actor John Cena, and dozens of Bollywood elites. A few lucky attendees were gifted limited edition Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watches, each estimated to be worth around $250,000.
The wedding was followed by a special “Shubh Aashirwad” blessing ceremony on Saturday, during which Anant gifted special edition Audemars Piguet watches to the groomsmen and his close friends, including Bollywood A-listers Shah Rukh Khan and Ranveer Singh. Most of them took to different social media platforms to show off their special gift. According to news reports, the Ambanis commissioned Audemars Piguet to create a series of 25 Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar watches in 18K pink gold. All identical to each other, the AP watches were crafted exclusively for the wedding.
Crafted out of 18K pink gold, the exclusive timepiece is almost identical to the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar, except for a few special touches. The watch features a gold dial with the signature Grande Tapisserie pattern, along with contrasting black subdials and an inner bezel. The case measures 41mm in diameter and has an integrated 18-carat pink gold bracelet with an AP folding clasp.
Housed inside is the Caliber 5134 self-winding movement with a perpetual calendar and 40 hours of power reserve. As seen in one of the Instagram videos, the AP watches exclusively created for the Ambani wedding came in a special box with unique makings.
It’s absolutely mind-blowing that the Ambanis spent around $6.25 million on custom watches for Anant’s special friends. However, it’s not entirely surprising considering the billionaire scion’s deep passion for watches. Known for his love for rare and ultra-exclusive timepieces, the 29-year-old has been spotted wearing some of the most expensive mechanical watches over the last seven months of grand pre-wedding celebrations. Anant’s watch collection is comprised of several extremely rare Richard Mille watches.
While recently he was spotted wearing an RM 27-02 Tourbillon Rafael Nadal, he also owns a $1.4 million Richard Mille RM12-01 Tourbillon Carbon and red Quartz TPT, a $6 million Richard Mille RM56-01 Tourbillon Green Sapphire, and a Richard Mille RM 56-02 Sapphire worth $4.6 million. However, everyone believed that his $9 million Patek Phillippe Grandmaster Chime Reference 6300G was the most special watch in Anant’s collection until he was seen wearing a $50 million Grandmaster Chime Ref. 5175R ‘175th Anniversary’ recently.
