Audemars Piguet collaborates with jewelry designer Carolina Bucci to create a limited edition 34 mm Royal Oak Selfwinding black ceramic with a unique iridescent dial

Audemars Piguet has introduced a new limited edition created in collaboration with famous Italian jeweler Carolina Bucci as a part of the ongoing 50th-anniversary celebrations of the AP Royal Oak. This is the third collaborative piece that has spawned from the partnership between AP and the Italian jewelry designer. The highlight of the special edition 34 mm Royal Oak Selfwinding black ceramic model is its unique dial. Unlike the previous frosted Audemars Piguet x Carolina Bucci Royal Oaks, the newest collaborative timepiece’s tapisserie dial features a unique multi-colored mirror effect. Depending on the angle of the light rays reflected by the dial, it can look black or reveal a spectrum of rainbow colors.

The dial is made of a sapphire plate that is adorned with miniature squares achieved through micro-structuring the top of the brass plate of the dial and a golden metallic treatment applied on the back of the sapphire plate to create a mirror-like effect. Audemars Piguet claims this technique varies from dial to dial, which makes each example of the special edition truly one-of-a-kind. The elegant yet eye-catching dial treatment gives the timepiece a more universal appeal to all genders.

The black ceramic case and bracelet are contrasted by hexagonal pink gold screws that secure the bezel. All the components of the case and bracelet are finished with the AP’s traditional satin-finishing. Rounding out the limited edition is a bespoke titanium and sapphire caseback that is engraved with the words “Limited Edition Carolina Bucci” and reveals the Calibre 5800 movement that powers the watch. The 22-carat pink gold oscillating weight also features the microbead-blasted, polished, and satin finishes. Furthermore, the collaborative timepiece comes in a presentation box also designed by Carolina Bucci. The rainbow-dialed 34 mm Royal Oak Selfwinding is limited to 300 examples and is priced at $54,200. It is available exclusively in Audemars Piguet boutiques and AP Houses.
