Bamford Watch Department partners with Franck Muller to create a Snoopy-themed limited-edition Crazy Hours timepiece

Bamford Watch Department’s obsession with Snoopy has spawned another special edition watch themed after the beloved cartoon beagle. For the latest creation, Bamford has collaborated with Franck Muller to create a limited-edition iteration of the Crazy Hours timepiece with the Snoopy theme. The watch combines Bamford’s trademark blacked-out look with Franck Muller’s signature Crazy Hours complication to create something that’s subtle yet very interesting. In fact, the Franck Muller x Bamford Watch Department Crazy Hours Cintrée Curvex is very different from all the Snoopy-themed watches we’ve seen before, which have come from watchmakers ranging from Timex to Omega. Without a doubt, the collaborative timepiece might not appeal to everyone’s taste but I find it as one of the nicest character watches.

“Working on the Franck Muller Crazy Hours watch has been so much fun,” says George Bamford, founder of Bamford Watch Department. “I cannot stop smiling when I look at this watch as there are so many cool elements to it. Adding Snoopy to this crazy dial and using his arms to point to the numerals is amazing. I love using the iconic concentric circular pattern around Snoopy, and what takes this watch to the next level is the luminous effect used on the dial.”

The timepiece gets Franck Muller’s traditional tonneau-shaped case that measures 39.6mm and gets a brushed finish, which looks fantastic with Bamford’s famous matte black coating. The highlight of the watch is its dial that gets a hand-painted depiction of Snoopy in the center with his arms forming hour and minute hands. A series of concentric hand-painted outlines around Snoopy gives a very eye-catching texture to the dial. The distorted Arabic numerals are painted in a simple non-luminous medium gray that matches the watch’s monochrome look. Interestingly, the numerals are not squeezed together as seen on other Crazy Hours watches by Frank Muller. Snoopy’s bird friend Woodstock also makes an appearance at two different places on the dial.

Powering the Franck Muller x Bamford Watch Department Crazy Hours Cintrée Curvex is the in-house MVD FM 2800-CHR automatic jumping hours movement. The time-only movement offers a 42-hour power reserve at a 28,800 bph beat rate. Completing its look is a matching strap in a black woven fabric that looks elegant. Only 25 examples of the Franck Muller x Bamford Watch Department Crazy Hours Cintrée Curvex will be made that can be bought from authorized dealers for £28,000 (around $37,000).
