In their latest attempt to attract fans and buyers Google has launched a collection in collaboration with Diane Von Furstenberg to put a high fashion spin on Google Glass. Since its launch, Glass has struggled to achieve the degree of popularity that was initially expected. Despite brands like Virgin Atlantic and Frederique Constant adopting Glass, the product is displaying little viability among the masses.
The DVF collaboration intends to address and change the perception of Google Glass. The collection includes frames in five new shades and will feature the DVF logo at the top corner. The collection is limited edition however the number of pieces produced is as yet undisclosed. The collection will be available for purchase online on Net-a-porter and Mr. Porter from June 23rd onwards. Incidentally, this is not the first time Google has joined hands with DVF, the designer also had her models wear the tech savvy glasses during one of her fashion shows.
Far from being the first of Google Glass’ ventures into the world of fashion, this DVF tie-up comes on the heels of collaborative ventures along with Calvin Klein, Swatch, Gap and Coach among others. As time flies and interest among potential flags, Google is counting on the fashion fraternity to make technology cool again.
