I can never imagine myself having the balance and poise like that of ballet dancers, and the Black Swan did bring around some interest in the dance form allover again. However, the one effort from Natalie Portman and friends may not be enough to save the dance form. This is where designer brands and star power can help. Christian Louboutin is out with a towering pair of eight-inch stilettos. Inspired by ballet shoes, it sports red-soles and Swarovski-encrusted heels and will be put under the hammer to raise funds of over £50,000 ($80,530) for the English National Ballet (ENB).
Other designers who have donated their wares for the Summer Party Silent Auction include names like Erdem, Giles Deacon, Moschino, Roksanda Ilincic and Julien Macdonald. The ENB was founded in 1950 by Dame Alicia Markova and Sir Anton Dolin and offers employment to 65 dancers and a symphony orchestra.
