The owner of this first-of-its-kind Koenigsegg Agera drove this ultra-rare hypercar for more than 20,000 km and it is now expected to fetch up to $2.4 million at an upcoming auction

One of only seven original Koenigsegg Agera hypercars ever produced is set to cross the auction block at RM Sotheby’s Paris 2025 sale, giving car collectors to acquire a highly significant piece of Swedish automotive history. When the Agera debuted in 2010, it marked Koenigsegg’s most comprehensive design overhaul since its inception. Succeeding the legendary CC platform that gave birth to the CCR and CCX, the Agera introduced distinctive styling elements that would come to define the brand’s modern aesthetic.

Manufactured in 2011, this particular example, known as the Agera ‘X,’ represents an important milestone in Koenigsegg’s history as their first model featuring a satin-finished exposed carbon fiber body. Under the hood is a twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 engine producing approximately 950 horsepower, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Distinguished by its Formula 1-inspired two-tier rear wing and distinctive red “claw” stripes with white borders, the Agera is simply jaw-dropping.

The sinister-looking hypercar has lived an active life, evidenced by its 20,367 kilometers (around 12,600 miles) on the odometer. Far from being a garage queen, it has participated in Koenigsegg’s exclusive “Ghost Squadron” tours, as indicated by the “GS” logo adorning its flanks. It recently received a comprehensive €16,000 (roughly $16,600) service from the official Koenigsegg dealership SEMCO Motors in October 2024. The interior, refreshed at the factory in 2020, features black leather and Alcantara with red stitching, replacing the original white leather accents.

The vehicle comes with a valid TÜV certificate from June 2023. However, potential buyers should note that due to VAT requirements, it’s currently only available for export and trade sale, with private buyers needing to contact RM Sotheby’s directly. This Agera is one of the foundational examples of Koenigsegg’s quest for excellence, combining historical significance with proven usability and unique specifications in the ultra-exclusive hypercar market.

Expected to fetch anywhere between €1.8-2.3 million (around $1.87-2.4 million), the owner might earn a small return from the sale despite having enjoyed the Swedish hypercar to the fullest since 2011. While the exact retail price of this particular example is not known, the Agera had a base price of $1.5 million when it was launched 15 years ago.
