The Spider-Man movie franchise is as iconic as its star Tobey Maguire, who raised an army of fans after the blockbuster first hit theatres. While the fandom grew later, there was already an army in place behind the scenes, helping the actor through his ordeals, including wriggling in and out of the infamous spidey suit. Lucky for fans, the same costume that was once a nightmare for Maguire is now a dream for collectors.

The suit, worn by Maguire throughout Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3, will hit the auction block this September. Looking like Peter Parker won’t come cheap, the Propstore auction estimates it between $100,000 and $200,000, yet it offers the chance to own one of the most iconic pieces of Hollywood memorabilia. A true-blue collector’s item, it wouldn’t be surprising if the final bid crushes those pre-sale estimates.

This particular costume featured a muscle suit underneath, sculpting Maguire into a comic-book-perfect physique. And that’s not all; crafted by Academy Award–winning costume designer James Acheson, it showcased deeper, richer tones, an enlarged spider emblem, and webbing so precise it was achieved through laser-cutting. Acheson later revealed that only three suits survived by the end of filming, as most were shredded in action sequences.

It seems fitting, then, that one of these rare survivors is destined for the ultimate Spider-Man fan. And it won’t be alone; Propstore’s upcoming mega-auction also includes cinematic treasures like Darth Vader’s lightsaber, Indiana Jones’ whip, and Sauron’s helmet from The Lord of the Rings. Bidding for this lot will end on September 4th.
