Middle East has been a hub for luxury cars for a while now, but it’s now gearing up to welcome art lover too! Christie’s at Dubai Auction sold Mahmoud Said’s ‘Whirling Dervishes’ at over twice its pre-sale estimate price of $6.7 million, at a staggering $2,546,500 to let it take the title the most expensive painting from the Middle Eastern to change owners.
All of Dr. Said’s paintings (30 in total) found buyers. In the last year alone, the Contemporary Middle Eastern art sales saw a 117% hike. This sale, too, saw bidders from as many as 18 nations around the world.
