Stretching half a kilometer into the sky, Brazil is all set to get the world’s tallest residential skyscraper. To be built at a cost of $560 million, the tower will be named and themed after local F1 legend Ayrton Senna.

Brazil is set to become the home to the world’s tallest residential skyscraper, conceived as a tribute to one of the tallest figures in the car racing world, legendary Brazilian Formula One driver Ayrton Senna. Named Senna Tower, the ambitious project has been given government approval along with getting the necessary environmental clearances. Set to be constructed in the city of Balneário Camboriú in southern Brazil, the Senna Tower will stand 509 meters tall, making it the tallest tower in Brazil and the tallest residential skyscraper in the world. If built, it will overshadow the Central Park Tower in New York City, the current tallest residential tower, by 18 meters. However, the Six Senses Residences Dubai Marina might come out as the winner in this race. Expected to be completed by 2028, the hyper-luxury tower in Dubai is slated to reach 517 meters.

The design of the Senna Tower has been penned by the niece of Ayrton Senna, Lalalli Sena. According to the visual artist, the aim behind the tower’s design was to celebrate the legacy of her uncle. “Every great story begins with a journey. A journey of discovery, growth and transformation,” Lalalli said. “The Senna Tower is a work of art of monumental proportions: a symbol that inspires us to seek to overcome our limitations and express the greatness within us. The tower has this architectural form precisely to symbolise this heroic journey of overcoming our ideals and the manifestation of our deep potential.”

The Senna Tower will completely transform the landscape of the coastal city, which is known for its skyline dominated by high-rise buildings. The project is a collaboration between FG Empreendimentos, a renowned construction firm, and the Senna Brand, which is responsible for carrying forward the legacy of Aryton Senna. The tower will have 204 apartments, 18 “suspended mansions,” four duplex penthouses, and two mega triplex penthouses. The initial design renderings show a sleek structure with lush green landscaping at the base and terraces with massive swimming pools.

The Senna Tower will include six private leisure floors with amenities and a rooftop area for residents’ use. Additionally, it will also have many entertainment, leisure, and restaurant areas open at the base that will be accessible to the general public. There will also be an immersive space highlighting Ayrton Senna’s career, his illustrious life, and his achievements. Right at the top will be an observatory that will offer panoramic views of the city and the coastline. The project currently has a budget of roughly $500 million, but many important details are yet to be revealed, including the expected pricing and a timeline for the project.
