One of the perks of being footballer Cristiano Ronaldo’s bodyguard is getting behind the wheel of his ultra-rare $10 million Bugatti Centodieci hypercar

As of 2024, Cristiano Ronaldo’s net worth stands at over $500 million. Ronaldo reportedly earns $213 million a year to play for Saudi football team Al Nassr, making him one of the highest-paid athletes in the world. Regrettably being that wealthy puts a high price on your head, and Cristiano Ronaldo trusts his life to his bodyguards, two former soldiers. Sergio and Jorge Ramalheiro are twins who joined the Portuguese military straight out of school and have been protecting Ronaldo and his family since 2021. Ronaldo not only trusts them with his life but with his prized possession — his $10 million, customized Bugatti Centodieci hypercar.

The Bugatti Centodieci certainly needs no introduction, but here’s a reminder of how quickly things can go wrong in inexperienced hands — the Centodieci packs 1,600 horsepower from its W16 engine, does the 0-62mph dash in just 2.4 seconds, 0-124mph in 6.1 seconds, and 0-186mph in 13.1 seconds.

One of the twins was spotted driving the 1-of-10 hypercar at night. He may have picked the car up after Ronaldo dropped it off, at what looks like the driveway of a boutique hotel, or he may have just borrowed it for a night out on the town.

If Ronaldo expects his bodyguards to put themselves in the line of fire if something does go wrong, it’s more than fitting that he allow them to pilot his toys too. Though, on the other hand, Ronaldo’s bodyguards are only doing their job, and this just could be the sign of a good boss. After all, Ronaldo has no reason to, especially since another of his employees once crashed another very expensive car of his.

Back in 2022, an employee of Ronaldo’s crashed his Bugatti Veyron into a wall in Mallorca. The employee was delivering the 1,200 horsepower hypercar to Ronaldo who was vacationing there with his family. The name of the employee wasn’t revealed, but it must have been someone close to the football star, close enough to be trusted with the $2 million car. While no one was harmed in the accident, the front end of the Bugatti did sustain heavy damage. No doubt that the repair bill would’ve been one to spill a tear or two over.

With all that history, it’s heartening to see Ronaldo putting that much trust into his employees, we’re sure they deserve it. In the same way Ronaldo’s expensive car collection deserves to be put in care of the right hands.
