When you’re Cristiano Ronaldo, breaking records becomes second nature. It doesn’t matter whether the records are broken on the field or on YouTube. The Portuguese footballer, who launched his official channel on the platform, shattered YouTube records by gaining the most subscribers in an hour and reaching a million subscribers in just 90 minutes. When it comes to the 90-minute game, Ronaldo reigns as the undisputed champion.
The Al Nassr forward took to Instagram, where he is the most followed person in the world with 636 million followers. He captioned the post, “The wait is over. My YouTube channel is finally here! SIUUUbscribe and join me on this new journey.”
The YouTube channel already has 19 videos that take fans inside the lavish life of the footballer and his gorgeous partner, Georgina Rodriguez. From their personal life and thoughts, views on sporting icons, and their wonderful family life in Saudi Arabia, fans get a peek into it all. The captain of Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr even highlighted The Red Sea Project in one video, saying, “In my life, I travel all over the world. I want to talk about the Red Sea. I can’t go anywhere on the planet where nobody recognizes me. This is impossible.”
His Instagram post was flooded with comments from followers who shared the euphoria and even joked about Ronaldo being the best at breaking records. One follower commented, “They gave him the trophy award before he opened the channel.” Another stated, “That’s the fastest I’ve ever seen someone get one of those.” A fan quipped, “Just another normal day.” They don’t call the dad of five the ‘GOAT’ for no reason.
The coveted Gold Play Button, awarded to creators who reach or surpass 1 million subscribers, is made of gold-plated brass and measures about 14 by 17 inches. It’s a glistening addition to Ronaldo’s trophy room that may even make it to the Museu CR7, a museum dedicated to Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo’s trophies, located in his birthplace, the city of Funchal on the Portuguese island of Madeira.
At the time of writing this article, Ronaldo has already amassed 17.9 million subscribers, another record in itself, and the superstar will now receive the rare Platinum Play Button, which is awarded to channels that have 10 million+ subscribers. Of the millions of YouTube channels out there, only 995 have reached this level. The next step on the YouTube ladder is the Custom Creator Award, given to channels that cross 50 million subscribers. Given the rate at which Ronaldo’s channel is growing, we wouldn’t be surprised if it even surpasses Mr. Beast’s subscriber count of 311 million.
