Bill and Melinda Gates’s wedding back in 1994 was a grand affair, as we shared only last week. It was only natural that the wedding of their oldest child would be no less. While Bill and Melinda ensured theirs was a hush-hush affair with no hovering helicopters and media coverage, we have all the charming details of Jennifer Gates’s fairytale wedding to equestrian Nayel Nassar. After an enchanting bridal shower at their humungous $125 million lakefront mansion in Washington, it was apparent the wedding would be a star-studded affair. The most awaited wedding of the year turned out to be an “otherworldly fairytale,” as described by the bride herself.
The wedding saw several heart-warming ceremonies take place; two marriage ceremonies, starting with Katb el Kitab, the Islamic marriage ceremony, followed by a main outdoor ceremony on Saturday and a post-wedding brunch on Sunday. Several ceremonies also mean several designer outfits, and Jennifer Katherine Gates wore three designs outfits for her dreamy wedding. Jenn wore a bespoke ivory A-line Vera Wang Haute gown. It looked ethereal with hand appliqué French macrame lace on the bodice, sleeves flowing onto her champagne Italian tulle skirt.
The tulle skirt deserves a special mention as it added oodles of grace with white hybrid Dutch delphinium flowers. The pretty bride kept her look minimal and fresh as she wore her auburn hair half up and sported minimal accessories in the form of a pair of studs to match her dress. She completed the look with a couple of Aquazzura heels.
Jennifer shared with Vogue, “Vera and her whole team were so wonderful to work with and made my dream dress come true.” She continued, “She is an icon in the fashion industry and a trailblazer as a woman who changed careers late and followed her passions. From our first meeting, I knew that I was in such good hands.” Clearly, Jennifer found herself mesmerized with Vera Wang’s creations as she chose to wear another number by Wang for the reception that followed in the tents.
Though stunningly haute couture, the gown was a trickled down (read: comfortable) version of the wedding gown with similar details. Jennifer looked delightful in her second gown by Vera Wang Haute, which flaunted a square neckline in nude tulle and embellished with hand appliqué French macrame lace on the skirt and straps. The square neck perfectly accommodates the dazzling diamond necklace, and matching stud earrings complete the look. The third dress was another stunning white outfit by Vera Wang, a sweet, sleeveless ivory number for their pre-wedding shoot on Friday.
For those wondering if the glow on Jennifer’s face was all love and happiness, that’s only partly correct; Jennifer’s bridal makeup was executed by none other than Mario Dedivanovic, made famous owing to his friendship and makeup mastery with Kim Kardashian. He gave Jennifer a very natural and dewy look to enhance her already flawless complexion. Pink lips and rosy cheeks made her seem like quite the blushing bride. As in most weddings, the bride also stole the spotlight, especially with her splendid outfit selections and dream gowns, but the groom also looked very classic and dapper.
The Egyptian-native groom looked dapper in a classic Armani tux with a Lily of the Valley boutonniere that perfectly coordinated with the bride’s bouquet pinned to his lapel. The magical $2 million nuptials took place on the $25 million horse farm in North Salem, New York. it saw 300 guests in attendance (vaccinated and Covid negative) entertained by none other than Coldplay. Jennifer’s parents Bill and Melinda, have also shared images of the couple from the weekend. “What a joy to celebrate the light and love of @jenniferkgates and @nayelnassar this past weekend. So grateful we were able to find a way to safely gather for this special day.” If the bridal shower was a beautiful page out of a fairytale, this was a saga of luxury, romance, and all things elegant.
