Nicki Minaj has offered an unusual glimpse inside one of the most talked-about aircraft in American politics, sharing a video from aboard the Boeing 747 gifted to the United States by Qatar. The rapper accompanied President Donald Trump on his recent trip to Michigan and posted footage of the aircraft’s lavish interior on X, captioning it “#AirForceOneBARBIE.” The video captures a cabin that looks more like a private apartment than the inside of a conventional passenger jet, complete with plush seating, carefully arranged furniture, and atmospheric lighting.

Minaj, who wore a beige Gucci outfit and sported long pink nails, appeared right at home in the cream-and-brown surroundings, with pink-purple illumination tracing the ceiling above her. Her footage gave followers a rare look at the presidential aircraft’s residential-style interior while also adding a distinctly personal touch to the journey.

Inside the luxurious presidential aircraft
The cabin visible in Minaj’s video features a substantial cream sofa with matching cushions, low tables with pale surfaces and dark-wood borders, and lamps with rectangular shades. Oversized, high-backed chairs are arranged in separate groups, creating several places for passengers to sit, relax, or hold conversations during the flight. Window-side tables and a screen mounted on the far wall add to the room’s practical features, while recessed spotlights illuminate the space from above.

The most eye-catching detail is the pink-purple glow running around the recessed ceiling panels, surrounding a large amber-colored central light that gives the room a warm, distinctive atmosphere. The lighting also happens to complement Minaj’s well-established pink aesthetic, which has featured prominently throughout her career, including in albums such as Pink Friday and Pink Friday 2.

The rapper was not the only person to share a glimpse inside the aircraft, as White House Director of Communications Steven Cheung posted a separate video showing him interacting with Minaj during the flight. Sitting across from her at a rectangular table, Cheung questioned the musician about the president’s economic record and work ethic before jokingly suggesting that she could be the next White House press secretary.

His caption read, “Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House Press Secretary!” Minaj responded enthusiastically when asked whether anyone worked harder than the president, praising his determination and describing him as a “great guy.” The exchange offered another look at the aircraft’s furnished interior while drawing attention to the rapper’s increasingly visible association with the administration.

A VIP interior with a history
The aircraft’s residential appearance is not entirely new, since the Boeing 747 previously served as a VIP aircraft before its conversion for use by the United States. In a June announcement, the US Air Force said that “much of the previous head of state interior layout minimally changed,” helping explain why the cabin retains its spacious lounges and separate furnished areas.

The original interior also has a design history associated with Pinto, AMAC, and Tai Ping, reflecting the aircraft’s earlier role as a high-end transport for senior officials. Its generous seating arrangements and distinct spaces give it a character closer to a flying residence than a standard commercial airliner, even as it serves a very different purpose today. Meanwhile, Cheung’s suggestion about Minaj becoming press secretary remains a joke rather than an official announcement, with the position currently vacant following Katie Zachariah’s departure after just five days in the role.
