Gucci celebrates 90th anniversary by opening its first museum at Florence


Considering that mid-September is the best time to visit Florence, you have an added reason to go there now. As Gucci turns 90, the luxury brand has an amazing plan to celebrate the event in style. Gucci has just opened its first museum in a Florentine palazzo in a bid to boost its brand image. In a gala opening celebration at the Piazza della Signoria, Gucci’s new exhibit will be on display at the 14th-century Palazzo della Mercanzia that will span across three floors.

You can find several of Gucci’s prized possessions, including the “bamboo” handbags, which Jackie Onassis and Sofia Loren are proud owners of, and a Gucci archive that displays an impressive collection of ready-to-wear accessories and photographs. You can also feast your eyes on pigskin suitcases, golf club bags with “Gucci’s double green and red band” and a GG embossed Cadillac Seville alongside stunning gowns designed by Frida Giannini for stars like Hilary Swank and Naomi Watts.
