While her mother Nita carried a $300,000 Hermès Himalaya at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Isha, the daughter of Asia’s richest man, upped the ante at Paris Couture Week with a $2 million solid-gold Birkin drenched in 3,025 diamonds

The thing with the Ambanis is that they never really step outside their natural habitat. Grandeur, diamonds, extravagance, and unmatched opulence are not occasional flourishes in their world; they are part of the atmosphere, absorbed so fully that they now seem written into their demeanor. And embodying that as though it were second nature is not Reliance Industries matriarch Nita Ambani, but Isha, the torchbearer of all things art and fashion in the Ambani clan.

The Yale graduate further cemented that status by turning up at the Rahul Mishra Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2026/2027 show in Paris on July 6, 2026, at the Collège des Bernardins carrying one of the most expensive Hermès creations ever made. Yes, she looked mannequin-esque in a gray custom Rahul Mishra gown and heavy Lorraine Schwartz diamonds, another regular fixture for the Ambani women.

But this time, it wasn’t Isha’s dazzling baubles, or even Mishra’s artistic take on fashion, that made her look like an Ajanta statue. It was perhaps the most extravagant jeweled Birkin interpretation ever conceived, coming from Nita’s personal collection. According to Town and Country Mag, The Hermès Sac Bijou Birkin, a bauble-like Birkin imagined by Pierre Hardy, the house’s fine-jewelry creative director, is valued at around $2 million. What makes it so mind-bogglingly expensive is not merely the materials or the construction, though both are extraordinary.

Only three are known to exist in the world with an 18-karat solid white-gold body, more than 3,025 brilliant-cut diamonds totaling over 111 carats, all handset in pavé, and a top flap that replicates crocodile skin while being sheathed in diamonds. Sounds like an objet d’art? That is because it is.

Trade coverage around the 2012 launch noted that these jewel-bags took around two years to create, and quoted Hermès’ then-CEO Patrick Thomas joking, “We are a little crazy here,” while also quipping that any buyer might need “two bodyguards.” Coming from a maison known for producing handbags that dominate auctions, wish lists, and billionaire shopping carts with ease, the Hermès Sac Bijou Birkin sits on a pedestal even by Hermès standards.

Beyond the bag, the 34-year-old billionaire allowed this one-of-a-kind Hermès marvel to share the spotlight with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. Her necklace featured a single 30-carat cushion-cut diamond drop on a rivière totaling 40 carats. Her face was framed with pear-shaped diamond stud earrings, and she finished the look with a 7-carat oval-cut diamond ring.

Early this year Kim Kardashian was spotted with the bag

But in all honesty, while the world has grown accustomed to seeing outsized diamonds on the Ambani women, the Sac Bijou was a welcome dose of extravagance that few on Earth can afford. Just so you know, the roughly $2 million handbag is equal to about eight Porsche 911 GT3s. But where’s the fun in that? The only other celebrity known to flaunt a flamboyance similar to Ambani is Kim Kardashian who also flaunted one of Hermès’ rarest creations at Broadway, a 4-inch sterling silver Kellymorphose Sac Bijou worth over $100,000, a bag smaller than her heel, and a far cry from Ambani’s dazzling version.
