From LA to Shanghai, here are the most anticipated city hotel openings of 2018


Who doesn’t love a city escapade? London to see a play? Warsaw for your history kick? Or even Paris? Because I mean…it’s Paris. An impressive 70 new luxury hotels are slated to open or reopen in major cities this year. That got us excited and we came up with a list of properties that will create the buzz in 2018.


13 – DTLA Proper Hotel, Los Angeles, USA
Opening: Mid 2018

Housed in the former YMCA building, the Downtown LA Proper Hotel will offer 2 ground-floor restaurants, a rooftop pool and lounge, and 151 unique guestrooms and 2 presidential suites. The fourth-floor library will display original ceiling frescoes and the historic basketball court will become a Hollywood screening room.


12 – L’Oscar, London, UK
Opening: 2018

39 lavishly decorated guestrooms will be created inside a gorgeous former Baptist Church HQ. Purple leather halls, rich reds, and vibrant golds will give a decadent, extravagant look to this new London hotel. Original religious features survived the transformation – look for terracotta biblical narrative panels or for the unique design of The Baptist Grill, housed in the octagonal former chapel.

11 – Bulgari Hotel Shanghai, Shanghai, China
Opening: 2018

The Bulgari Hotel Shanghai will occupy the top 8 floors of a new construction in the historic Jing’an district. 82 guestrooms and suites – including 1 signature Bulgari suite – will be among the largest hotel rooms in Shanghai. A spa and an Italian rooftop restaurant have been added to make sure the Bulgari Shanghai becomes a showstopper.


10 – Mandarin Oriental, Doha, Qatar
Opening: Early 2018

The Mandarin Oriental, Doha promises to be the perfect address for business and leisure. Centrally located close to the business district and the airport, the hotel offers 128 guestrooms, 30 suites, and 91 serviced apartments plus a beautifully appointed spa, and 9 dining venues. This chic address will become the first symbol of Mandarin Oriental’s legendary hospitality in the Middle East.


9 – NoMad Los Angeles, Los Angeles, USA
Opening: January

Taking over a building from the 1920s, NoMad Los Angeles will feature 241 guestrooms. Under the direction of Chef Daniel Humm (3 Michelin Stars for Eleven Madison Park in NYC), the Neoclassical landmark will house an elegant restaurant and bar, an all-day Italian-inspired café, and a rooftop pool and cocktail bar that offer expansive views of the city.

8 – Raffles Europejski Warsaw, Poland
Opening: Early 2018

In the historic district of Warsaw, next to the Presidential Palace, the 106-room property will have bespoke furniture commissioned from local craftsmen and designers, oak floors, and Polish art. A restaurant with an outdoor terrace will showcase Poland’s rich produce and cuisine. For those looking to relax, the spa will have 6 treatment rooms as well as a pool adorned with a mosaic from the 1960s.


7 – W Muscat, Muscat, Oman
Opening: May

This property will feature 300 guestrooms, 1 presidential suite, meeting facilities, a specialty restaurant by the beach and several other restaurants inside the hotel as well as pool and spa facilities. Expect contemporary design, electric ambiance, and some tasteful Omani touches. This modern beachfront W Hotel will be located close to the Royal Opera House Muscat.
