The idea of getting underwater seems to be gaining popularity. From the Atlantis The Palm, Dubai’s underwater suite, dining underwater at Per Aquum Niyama Resort in the Maldives or even plans for a underwater city, travelers seem happy to take a dive. These travelers have more reason to rejoice now as plans for over £13 million ($19.6 million) underwater hotel have just received patent approval. The Planet Ocean Underwater Hotel will rise 28 feet beneath the sea and can move locations, using electromechanical propulsion technology, in the event of a hurricane.
A 12-room luxury vessel- as it is technically classed – received a USA Patent and Trademark approval as the world’s first underwater hotel, as is looking at Egypt, Malaysia, Hawaii and the Bahamas as preferred locations.
While underwater hotels are not a new concept, the Planet Ocean Underwater Hotel will offer its adventurous guests the opportunity to purchase a single unit and place it in an approved Caribbean location, where they can sit back and enjoy the panoramic views of the marine life. A single unit will be sold at $3 million, while the 12-room design is priced at $20 million.
