Solid 24 karat gold Darth Vader mask can be yours for $1.4 million

Star Wars commemorative memorabilia and collectibles can be very, very expensive, but $1.4-million-expensive is completely over the top. Nevertheless, we know that there are super-rich Star Wars fans out there that’ll be ready to shell out any amount to add something special to their collection. A one-of-a-kind solid gold Darth Vader mask has been created by Japanese jeweler Tanaka Kikinzoku to mark the 40th anniversary of Star Wars. The jeweler – who in the past has created other gold commemorative pieces, including Lionel Messi’s left foot which went on sale for a hefty $5 million – showcased the 33-pound piece on Tuesday.

The 24 karat gold mask will be available for purchase on May the 4th which otherwise is known as Star Wars Day. The price? 154 million Japanese yen, that roughly converts to $1.4 million USD. If you find that to be too expensive for you, the jeweler also plans to release “Star Wars” related gold coins in a more ‘affordable’ range of $1,200 to $11,000.
