Several brokers, according to The New York Post, have suggested that Musk may be among those who have toured the future $300 million estate. More than the real estate itself, though, it is the manner of the alleged visit that has captured attention. According to developer Todd Michael Glaser, who spoke to Gimme Shelter, a billionaire arrived by helicopter, landed in Biscayne Bay, and reached the property by raft before leaving the same way. No names were mentioned, but the sheer theater of it was enough to send Miami’s luxury property circuit into overdrive.
The address has its share of real estate history in place; Glaser and his partners acquired the 1936 mansion on the site for $105 million, only to flip it months later and list it for a staggering $169 million. The old estate is primed and prepped for billionaire status in an ultra-modern avatar with the luxe compound expected to ask around $300 million when completed.
What makes the Musk rumor especially intriguing is that for years, the Tesla boss cultivated an anti-mansion image. In May 2020, he posted that he was selling almost all physical possessions and would “own no house.” Luxurylaunches also recently covered his famously sparse $50,000 rental home in Texas, complete with one towel in the shower, little food in the fridge, and even a garage bed for his mother. It was a setup that felt radically at odds with the lavish domestic lives usually associated with billionaires of his stature.
If Musk, the man who once made headlines for sleeping on Tesla factory floors, is indeed considering this property, it would mark a dramatic shift from functional minimalism to unapologetic excess. According to Realtor, the residence includes eight bedrooms, 16 bathrooms, and roughly 16,910 square feet of living space. But with a price tag of $300 million, the appeal clearly goes far beyond size.
This is not just a large home in a fancy zip code. It is being positioned as a modern fortress for the ultra-rich, all glass, green rooftop space, and hurricane-resistant design, with the structure elevated about 17 feet above the flood zone. Add to that a 31-car garage, and the property begins to feel less residential and more like a private estate engineered for wealth, security, and spectacle as the real amenities.
