Cadillac partners with Saks Fifth Avenue for a $90,000 ELR

Cadillac entered the growing market of PHEVs with its brand new 2014 ELR coupe which was unveiled earlier this year. To be frank, it’s one of the better looking hybrid vehicles on offer and will directly take on the Tesla S. Just before the holiday season kicks in, Cadillac has come up with a limited edition version of the 2014 ELR PHEV in partnership with the upscale store chain Saks Fifth Avenue. Featuring in this year’s Saks Fifth Avenue Holiday Catalog, the special edition 2014 ELR will be limited to 100 examples.

Strangely however, the 2014 Cadillac ELR Saks Fifth Avenue Special Edition doesn’t come with much frills added to it from the original version. For an added $14,500 to the original price tag of $75,000, the special edition ELR gets a special paint job which the company prefers to call ‘White Diamond’ and a $3000 worth upgraded 240-volt charging station complete with professional installation. In addition, Cadillac will also offer the buyers a special concierge service – representatives trained to provide information on things like battery care, charging, service scheduling and news updates.

Cadillac has started accepting orders for the limited edition ELR which can be done by calling by calling 1-855-SAKS-CAD (1-855-725-7223), but the deliveries will start from March 2014 onwards. With a price tag of $89,500 including the $995 destination fee, it seems to be overpriced. In addition to the ELR, a special Escalade with the same white diamond paint job will be unveiled on the 25 November at the Saks Fifth Avenue flagship store near Rockefeller Center in New York City and will be kept as a window display.
