2017 Mercedes-Benz S Class Cabriolet the ‘world’s most comfortable convertible’ unveiled

There’s something extraordinary about driving down a long and twisting mountain road, with the wind caressing your hair. There’s something absolutely brilliant about doing so in a drool-worthy convertible, or to be a little more specific, the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet. The sixth car to join the Mercedes-Benz S Class family, the Cabriolet is all you’d expect from a convertible super-luxury car, and some more. This is the first open-top luxury four-seater from Mercedes-Benz since 1971 and the car will make its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Termed to be the “world’s most comfortable convertible”, the S Class Cabriolet packs a Thermotronic intelligent climate control system, an automatic wind protection system called Aircap as well as a neck-level heating system called Airscarf.

Under the hood, this S550 comes with a 455PS 4.7-liter V8 while the S 63 4Matic Cabriolet model sports a 585PS 5.5-liter biturbo V8 engine. Both the S Class Cabriolet models boast of a convertible top that can be deployed or retracted, even when the car is in motion, at speeds of up to 60 km/h (37 mph). The car’s designers have also taken special care to ensure an optimal amount of boot-space. Pricing details haven’t been announced yet though we do expect the new Mercedes-Benz S Class Cabriolet to come with a pretty extensive price tag.
