Sindalah, Neom‘s inaugural luxury island and yacht club destination in the Red Sea, has finally opened the scenic gateway to the region. This venue features a world-class marina, a yacht club with over 5,000 berths, 86 piers, and a beach club, all geared toward the elite of the super-rich. The launch was a magnum opus affair, beginning with a stellar bash hosted by none other than Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, who gathered popular influencers and financiers under one roof for this iconic moment.
What truly grabs attention is the presence of the magnificent Golden Odyssey yacht, which will be attending the launch of this superyacht haven. Commissioned by Prince Khalid bin Sultan of Saudi Arabia, who never set foot on it, this gem was delivered in 2015. The vessel was sold to a secretive Chinese billionaire known for his penchant for luxurious sea vessels. The foray of this 7,600 GT ship onto familiar shores completes a full circle.
The $150 million yacht boasts five expansive decks, packed with every amenity imaginable. It accommodates 36 guests and 73 crew members, featuring opulent interiors designed by the late Alberto Pinto. Originally valued at $300 million, it was seized and auctioned in Malta after Deutsche Bank Luxembourg enforced its mortgage for an outstanding debt of over $116 million. Its value declined by half when a Chinese billionaire purchased her for the bargain price of $150 million.
Despite this price reduction, she continues to reign supreme as one of the most significant ships in attendance. Golden Odyssey made waves at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show, marking her as the largest superyacht to have ever attended the event.
With the most impressive private owner’s deck, a spa featuring a steam room, hammam, treatment room, and a private terrace with a Jacuzzi, Golden Odyssey is poised to steal the show at Sindalah, heralding a glorious future. While Golden Odyssey will command attention due to its gargantuan proportions, other luxury vessels in attendance will also receive their due recognition, owing to their rich histories. Notably, the 325-foot Christina O, which hosted legends like Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, and JFK, will be present. Additionally, another Lürssen beauty, Alisher Usmanov’s $300 million ship Alaiya, delivered in 2019, is also anchored nearby.
