When an automobile comes with a price tag north of $2.5 million USD, one expects just about everything of it to be absolutely perfect. The Pininfarina Battista is being touted as the world’s first luxury electric hypercar and it also gets the distinction of being the most powerful road-legal car ever produced in Italy – which is a big deal. However, Automobili Pininfarina wants the Battista not to be just about outright performance but a proper luxury car with top of the line amenities, and the in-car audio system is a big part of it. The Italian hypercar maker has announced a new partnership with British luxury hi-fi brand Naim Audio to equip the hyper-EV with an unrivaled sound system. NAIM has developed a custom 1,300 watt, 10-speaker audio system exclusively for the Battista.
The Naim sound system for Battista took more than a year to conceived and developed by a joint team of Naim and Automobili Pininfarina experts. It features a Dual Voice Coil Subwoofer between the driver and passenger and super-tweeters for amplifying higher frequencies and Digital Signal Processing (DSP) system to deliver exceptional in-car audio. The UK-based audio brand says the “symmetrical speaker layout creates an auditorium-like studio effect, with incredible realism and ambiance.” Only 150 examples of the Pininfarina Battista will be hand-crafted in the automaker’s production facility in Cambiano, near Turin, in Italy. The deliveries are expected to begin in early 2021. The electric hypercar has four motors at each wheel churning out an astounding 1900 horsepower and 1696 lb-ft of torque. Pininfarina claims a 0-62 mph time of fewer than two seconds and a top speed of ‘at least’ 217mph.
