Bovet and Pininfarina have come together yet again to introduce a beautiful openworked watch that features brand new movement and an easy change strap system

The collaboration between Bovet and the legendary Italian design house Pininfarina has been around since 2010, and it has spawned several distinct-looking, performance-oriented watches over the years. The latest addition to the line-up is called the Bovet x Pininfarina Aperto 1, which combines the traditional horological art skeletonizing with an interesting choice of materials to present a highly contemporary timepiece. “I’m very excited about this vibrant, young timepiece,” said Pascal Raffy, Owner of Bovet. “The Aperto 1 embodies Bovet’s and Pininfarina’s passion for contemporary and futuristic design in mechanically exceptional timepieces.

The timepiece features an ultra-lightweight sandblasted grade 5 titanium case that measures 42mm in diameter and 10.95mm in height. The case gets a very clean, clutter-free design, which is further helped by the rubber-clad crow located at the very top. The highlight of the Aperto 1 is the brand-new, hand-wound caliber 15BMPF09-OW movement. Made out of 219 components, including 38 jewels, the movement was constructed by Bovet to be openworked from the ground up. Running at a 3Hz frequency, it offers a power reserve of 7 days, which is seriously impressive. The movement is coated with black and tantalum grey treatments, which highlights its stunning design. The watch brand claims “each movement undergoes at least 10 hours of hand-finishing just for the plates and bridges alone.” The skeletonized movement is on full display thanks to being protected by sapphire crystals on both sides.

Another interesting feature of the new co-branded timepiece is its unique approach to interchangeable straps created exclusively for the model, which is inspired by Bovet’s patented Amadeo system. The watch comes with two separate rubber straps, both fitted to a sandblasted titanium pin buckle. Switching between the two is super easy, which can be done by simply activating the pushers of the Amadeo interchangeability system. The Bovet x Pininfarina Aperto 1 is not a limited edition model and is priced at CHF 48,800 (around $57,000).
