Not a man to be bogged down – Donald Trump is planning an ambitious project of 2,300 new luxury homes and retail space at his Miami resort.

‘But man is not made for defeat. A man can be destroyed but not defeated,’ said Ernest Hemingway. This adage immediately reminds me of Donald Trump. We may dislike him, but you can’t deny the man has spirit. He bears the brickbats, haggles with losses, and then tries harder! In a bid to revive his struggling Doral golf club, Trump is building thousands of new luxury homes in the Miami-area property. Doral house is a great property and one of Trump’s most significant revenue generators till Covid-19 happened. The fate of Doral golf club was similar to most of his endeavors- a drain on the business.

But the new year is about a new beginning for Trump, who is now applying to build 2,300 units at his resort, calling it “perhaps the most exciting development in the country.” Trump issued the statement under the presidential seal Trump had fashioned for his ‘Save America’ PAC emails. The statement read, “I have just spent millions of dollars on the Blue Monster golf course at Trump National Doral in the heart of Miami. Incredible what has been created. Also, will be applying for 2,300 units of luxury housing, retail, and commercial space in Phase 1 at Doral. This is perhaps the most exciting development in the Country—and the Blue Monster course, coupled with the Red, Gold, and Silver, are setting records!’

Trump National Doral was in steep decline financially already by May 2019 and can’t be blamed entirely on the pandemic. Its net operating income had fallen by 69 percent – from $13.8 million in 2015 to $4.3 million two years later. In addition to the Doral Club, Donald Trump’s prized Scottish golf courses also are bleeding money and have claimed $4 million in UK furlough money.
