In a marriage, they say you share a nervous system. In the case of Indian billionaires Anant Ambani and his wife, Radhika Merchant, it seems they also share a love for ultra-exclusive timepieces. Anant, the youngest scion of Reliance Industries, headed by Asia’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani, who is worth $91 billion, is a well-known watch connoisseur. In fact, he owns one of the most impressive Richard Mille collections in the world.

His better half, Radhika, was recently spotted at an Indian Premier League (IPL) match sporting the Richard Mille RM 07-01 Flying Tourbillon Sapphire, a remarkable expression of modern high horology. This $2.5 million timepiece, offered in three variants, features a clear sapphire case paired with a lilac-pink rubber strap. It was a choice that felt entirely in step with Merchant’s polished, feminine elegance.

The fully skeletonized RM 07-01 caliber is displayed in full view, while Super-Luminova elements add drama to the openworked design.

It is no secret that this horological labor of love boasts a tripartite case requiring more than 1,000 hours of labor and is consequently limited to just 15 pieces. Merchant may not yet possess Ambani’s wide assortment of jaw-dropping timepieces, but she has certainly turned heads with her refined taste. The NYU graduate previously sported an exquisite $81,000 Van Cleef & Arpels Charms Coccinelle Féerique, and at one of her much-discussed wedding functions, the newest member of the Ambani clan flaunted a $450,000 Audemars Piguet Royal Oak studded with 1,528 yellow sapphires and a $164,000 Vacheron Constantin timepiece that is studded with 1,345 diamonds.

Her interest in wristwear is not always tied to extravagance. She was also seen opting for a humble $300 Whoop band during a recent Saudi Arabian vacation. Still, it is the flamboyance of the Ambanis that the world loves to notice, and it is a good thing the family members take turns serving one standout look after another. This time, it was Merchant’s Richard Mille that stole the spotlight.
