A wellness resort in Italy is now home to one of the most epic swimming pools of all time! The 82ft long pool is practically an architectural marvel located 40 feet above the ground and complete with a thrilling (or terrifying!) glass bottom. The pool is part of the Hotel Hubertus which is a getaway for skiers located in South Tyrol, Italy.
The cantilevered swimming pool is perched on larch tree trunks and overlooks the beautiful Dolomite Mountains. Designed by architecture studio Noa, the freshwater pool has a glass-paneled side as well as a glass window in its floor which gives swimmers a stunning view and probably also a bit of vertigo!
Architect Lukas Rungger of Noa, told MailOnline Travel, “For the design of the pool we were driven by the aim to blur the physical limits to create an element, which is interweaving with the landscape, mirroring the clouds and framing panoramic views.”
The glass front of the pool blurs the boundaries between the pool and the landscape creating a surreal feeling for swimmers. The feeling is enhanced by the anthracite sides of the pool which match the colors of the surroundings.
The daring among you might be tempted to experience this larger than life pool, but for the others, the Hotel Hubertus has several suites and rooms for you to choose from with no vertiginous glass panels in sight!
