Hermès channels its love for pooches in the most charming way possible with the Arceau Jour de Casting. The maison is associated with serious fashion, handbags that are investments, craftsmanship that is unmatched, and a legacy built over many decades. Yet amid its world of timeless bags and haute couture, Hermès finds room for a touch of humor. Enter Orson, Amy, and Taco, three canine friends that add oodles of fun where fashion and fabulousness meet. Ultimately, fashion is about self-expression, even when it ranks among the most expensive or the most elaborate. Here, that spirit takes the form of playful pooch portraits that make the Arceau collection unforgettable.
The three limited editions, unveiled at the Hermès Time Suspended exhibition at the 706 Madison Avenue flagship in New York, are as whimsical as they come. Each dog is framed by a 38 mm white gold case set with 71 diamonds and housing the mechanical self-winding Hermès H1912 movement. Taking inspiration from artist Liz Stirling’s Jour de casting, the three Arceau Jour de Casting timepieces each star a different dog wearing its finest collar and striking a pose at the center of the dial. Just as you cannot take Hermès and high fashion away from each other, the dog and its bone arrive as a delightful package deal.
The black-and-white Orson is crafted from wood marquetry. Amy is a spectacle of textured brushstrokes, while Taco is a masterclass in miniature and cloisonné enamel. Before getting into the finer details, it is worth noting that these pets, which first appeared on the Jour de Casting carré 70 silk scarf from Hermès’ Spring/Summer 2025 collection, are actual pets of Hermès employees rather than invented mascots.
Now for the dazzling craftsmanship that deserves credit, beginning with Orson, perfect for those who prefer the understated. The four-legged friend is rendered entirely in wood marquetry against a striking black and white palette that uses eight different types of wood. The muzzle, eyes, nose, and tongue are hand-painted to add dimensionality to the dial, and a genuine leather bone stands out against the sky-blue background. Orson is limited to just 12 pieces and comes with a smart noir Swift calfskin strap, priced at around $117,000.
Amy is the most flamboyant of the trio, with vibrant sunglasses that are almost hypnotic to the beholder. She looks real enough to bark at any second, thanks to the artisan’s dexterity. A stylish collar and ever-present bone complete the portrait of this high-fashion pet on a hand-painted dial, paired with an ambre Swift calfskin strap. Both Amy and Taco are limited to 24 pieces, with Amy selling for about $107,000.
Last but not least is Taco, the sweetest-looking canine with adorable, laughing eyes. This visual treat comes alive through miniature painting, leather, and cloisonné enamel. The cloisonné technique accentuates the relief of the fur and the depth of the collar, a fantastic effect achieved using very thin gold wires. Taco’s cheerful personality is grounded by a Bleu Jean Swift calfskin strap that echoes the playful tones of the dial, priced at roughly $128,000. Across Orson, Amy, and Taco, there are only 60 pieces in total, making this tiny pack one of the most elusive Hermès métiers d’art creations to date, according to World Tempus.
