Boutique watch brand Jacob & Co. has revealed its latest creation – a one-off Bugatti watch custom-made for none other than Cristiano Ronaldo. The 37-year-old soccer legend worked closely with Jacob Arabo, founder of Jacob & Co., to design the bespoke piece according to his exact requirements. According to the watchmaker, the timepiece has been carefully styled and crafted to match the personalized Bugatti Chiron owned by Ronaldo. Judging by the pictures, the one-of-a-kind timepiece is based on the watchmaker’s Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon Baguette model, which happens to be one of the most complex timepieces ever made.
According to the details given by Jacob & Co., the CR7 timepiece is completely covered with 232 white baguette diamonds and 109 black sapphires, which totals to 21 ct. of gemstones adorning the dial and the tonneau-shaped case that measures 55mm wide and 20mm tall. In addition to that, the bespoke watch also features the CR7 branding on the dial that sets it apart from the standard versions of the model. The skeletonized dial and the components of the watch’s complex movement are in champagne gold with a satin finish, which beautifully complements the transparent theme of the watch.
One of the highlights of the Jacob & Co. Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon Baguette model is the working miniature replica of the Chiron’s W16 engine made out of transparent sapphire crystal. Pressing a button brings the automaton to life with the 16 tiny pistons pumping up and down inside the see-through W16 engine block. Powering the timepiece is Jacob & Co.’s 578-components, manual winding JCAM3 movement that features a 30-degree inclined flying tourbillon and a 60-hour power reserve. The movement is also suspended on a working shock absorption system that is visible on the dial. The pricing for the model starts at $1 million. But the CR7 version being a one-off created for Ronaldo, you can’t really put a price tag on it. In fact, the watch was personally handed over to the star soccer player by Jacob Arabo himself.
Cristiano Ronaldo is a well-known car enthusiast with a garage full of some of the most exotic automobiles money can buy. However, the Portuguese soccer legend is a proper patron of the French automaker. His car collection includes three hypercars made by Bugatti. The first one was a Veyron that he purchased sometime in 2016, which was followed by a personalized Chiron. In fact, Ronaldo was one of the first customers to be delivered the Chiron and he even appeared in a Bugatti commercial for the hypercar. The latest to join his garage is a Bugatti Centodieci – a limited-production version of the Chiron with only 10 examples in existence and a price-tag north of $9 million.
