Zenith Academy Christophe Colomb Hurricane Revolución watches pays tribute to South America’s three iconic revolutionaries

We have always maintained that the Academy Christoph Colomb Hurricane watches by high-end luxury watchmaker Zenith are beyond comparison. Be it their intricate design work or the groundbreaking horological technology applied in the timepieces, they are truly exceptional. The Swiss watchmaker has enhanced its Academy Christophe Colomb Hurricane line by launching extremely limited edition three timepieces in tribute to three iconic South American revolutionary figures: Simón Bolívar, Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara and Emiliano Zapata. Though the three revolutionaries followed the communist ideologies, the three limited edition Zenith watches are worlds apart in that ways. The three timepieces are equipped with three major horological discoveries including a fusee-chain transmission to apply constant force, a gyroscopic gimbal setup to theoretically negate the effect of gravity on the movement and an unparalleled cadence of 36,000 vibrations an hour. The Academy Christophe Colomb Hurricane Revolución with its Latin twist stands out immediately from the rest of the Zenith collection.

On the front of the three watches, the open dial architecture makes it possible to see and admire the three original mechanisms which include the barrel with fusée-chain transmission appearing between 10.30 and 1.30 on the dial, the gravity control gyroscopic module and the high-frequency regulator at 6 o’clock. But the most eye-catching feature is the case-back. All the three different watches feature miniature paintings produced by the best craftsmen with the help of a sophisticated system of gold appliqués fixed directly onto the movement. Intricately carved and painted by hand, these details are achieved with the utmost delicacy and under a microscope. The Academy Christophe Colomb Hurricane Revolución edition will come in a mahogany box adorned with corner trims and an oxbone lock that can be transformed into a 200-cigar humidor. Each of the watch is priced at $419,000; that is $1,257,000 for the set of three Christophe Colomb Hurricane Revolución watches.
