Mercedes Ocean Drive concept all set to zoom

Go on a “top-less” cruise along the world’s finest ocean promenades! Mercedes-Benz is adding to its reputation as a pioneer and design trendsetter among premium carmakers with the presentation of its Concept Ocean Drive four-door convertible. Mercedes will uncover a four-door cabriolet based on the long-wheelbase S600 at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show. It’s called Ocean Drive, probably because that’s where it belongs – Ocean Drive in Miami Beach, Laguna Niguel, or Cape Cod. This overtly ostentatious millionaire’s toy is accessible via four doors. The Ocean Drive is based on S 600, with its long chassis and wheelbase and its V12 bi-turbo engine, but the body is completely new, with softer lines, a large grille, and two-tone paintwork. The long side-window opening is not interrupted by a B-pillar or window frames.

The design study features an innovative soft-top mechanism with smooth operation and fast closing times, radar-based Distronic Plus, and the Airscarf neck-level heating system on all four seats. The unique luxury convertible design study from Stuttgart turns a “dream car” vision into reality!
