The Story
Featuring four thatch-roofed suites with glass-floors providing hypnotising views of the fish and coral below, Conrad Maldives Rangali Island’s Over Water Spa is a peaceful, picturesque haven overlooking the pristine Indian Ocean.
Showcasing ISUN skincare products, an award-winning Colorado-based organic beauty brand, the spa offers 18 thoughtfully curated rituals, from herbal body wraps to salt baths and revitalising facials. Harnessing the use of essential oils, precious gemstones and “living water”—energising water that’s supposedly rich in super-conducting, single atoms of gold, platinum and other precious metals in a rare liquid state—every treatment features a combination of these three aspects.
The Treatment
A 60-minute version of the 90-minute Longevity Space ritual. Falling under the “Strength” pillar, the experience is designed to ground oneself and bring equilibrium to mind, body, and spirit.
Ideal for “aligning imbalances caused by mental or physical stress, travel or sleep deprivation”, the three-part treatment first begins with a Sacred Aromablend inhalation, followed by a massage with herb-infused oils, a purifying cleanse with lavender and sage, and hot towels to diffuse any leftover tension in your muscles.
The second part commences with a rejuvenating facial treatment, with beauty products infused into the skin through a Marma point massage using cooling quartz crystal wands.
Lastly, the experience closes with Ormus Myst to set your mind in a state of balance and relaxation before you leave.
Location
Rangali Island. The hotel has another bigger sanctuary called the Spa Retreat on the tip of Rangali Finolhu Island, featuring a hair and nail salon, boutique, nine treatment rooms and unique open toilet concepts.
In the middle of the spa’s treatment rooms sits a larger structure where we’d attended a sunset yoga class the day before. The location was unbeatable in that regard, and the sunset may be the most beautiful one we’d ever had the pleasure of seeing.
The Noteworthy
In terms of the massage itself, the therapists are skilled and professional. They applied optimal pressure in synchronised and firm strokes all over our bodies, albeit specific parts where we’d indicated for them to focus on were overlooked.
