Some things in the life of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his glamorous fiancée, Lauren Sanchez, remain unpredictable, like when they plan to tie the knot. However, one tradition has stood the test of time: spending New Year’s Eve in St. Barts. The year 2024 was no exception, as the world’s second-richest man and his helicopter-pilot partner soaked up the charm of the Caribbean aboard the $500 million megayacht, Koru.
Ever charming Sanchez was spotted enjoying the world’s largest sailing yacht in the company of her friends, including her ex, former NFL star Tony Gonzalez. Her sun-soaking soiree was briefly interrupted when at least two men and two women conducted an inspection of the Amazon founder’s 417-foot vessel.
According to the Daily Mail, the officials roamed the decks and spoke with occupants, including Lauren Sanchez, for over three hours. The inspection, however, was reportedly “routine,” and no commotion or wrongdoing prompted their visit.
Why the officials decided to interrupt Sanchez’s leisurely day remains unknown. Still, she looked effortlessly stunning in a sunhat, large aviators, and a gold-patterned bikini. This time last year, the power couple sailed the Caribbean Sea, choosing to anchor at Falmouth Harbor rather than St. Barts, with their AIS system turned off to avoid attention. The year before that, they stirred up headlines with a disco-themed New Year’s Eve bash that garnered global attention. Interestingly, Koru was still under construction at the time, prompting the couple, who clearly adore superyachts, to rent a modest $38,000-a-week vessel.
Now, with the half-a-billion-dollar Koru and its $75 million support vessel Abeona, the affluent duo has more than enough space to entertain in style. These state-of-the-art yachts, crafted by Oceanco and Damen Yachting, offer every imaginable luxury for the couple and their circle of friends. Both vessels are currently sailing the Caribbean Sea, making the most of the holiday season.
Other billionaires have joined the festivities with their impressive yachts. Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt is cruising aboard $158 million Whisper, while Jerry Jones $225 million Bravo Eugenia, Alice Walton Walton Laurie’s $300 million Kaos, and Jan Koum’s $75 million Mogambo are also turning heads at the picturesque location.
