Leica has introduced its first limited edition timepiece that pays tribute to its first golden-edition camera

Leica has introduced a new limited edition timepiece called the ZM 1 Gold Limited Edition, which pays tribute to the brand’s storied past and unmatched craftsmanship. Limited to just 50 pieces, the special creation is based on Leica’s original ZM 1 watch (formerly the L1). What sets it apart from the standard version is its special colorway that pays homage to the brand’s first golden-edition camera – the Leica I Model A Luxus, introduced in 1929. Inspired by the vintage camera, the limited edition watch features a dual-metal case that is crafted out of 18k gold 4N and high-strength Grade 5 Titanium, a material known for being used in the aerospace and automotive industries.

The ZM 1 Gold’s dial features a brown gradient treatment made possible by an expert brushing technique, which gives it a beautiful appearance. The indices and the hands mirror the case’s golden color with a galvanized finish. Inside the 41mm case is the hand-assembled Leica Calibre LH-1001 movement that features the company’s patented push-crown – a feature that mimics the function of a camera’s shutter release.

Completing the look of the limited edition is a matching brown strap made from alligator leather. The leather is responsibly sourced from a certified farm in the US and is naturally tanned at an Italian tannery. The Leica ZM 1 Gold Limited Edition will be available exclusively through private appointments at select Leica stores and carry a price tag of $28,000.
