Tiffany & Co. understands timelessness, elegance, and the power of nostalgia. After giving watch enthusiasts a $50,000 clock inspired by the vintage 1950s New York City taxicab, the American jeweler is back on the road, but this time to hit the skies. The latest addition to its “Time Objects” collection is a Tiffany Airways Airplane Clock in Stainless Steel with Tiffany Blue paint. The hue is undoubtedly one of the most striking features of the Tiffany Airways mechanical clock. It is only after getting over the attractiveness of the blue hue that one notices the structure of the airplane, its functioning wheels mimicking landing gear.
After a few seconds of perusal, one notices that the hours and minutes are displayed on large stainless steel disks on the nose of the plane. This is hinted at by the cage that forms the cockpit and ends with an arrow shape. The tail wing is decorated with a “TCO” monogram, and the Tiffany & Co. engraving is found on the nose of the plane. With aesthetics completely bowling you over, it is time for the mechanics to do their bit—leave you open-mouthed.
The radiator acts as a winding and setting crown, and the propeller spins too, for some playful indulgence. The price of the clock is $42,000, nearly as expensive as the Tiffany taxi but hardly a sum for a millionaire who wants to be complimented on excellent taste.
The Tiffany airplane clock can be mounted on a stainless steel stand and measures 14 inches long by 17.4 inches wide and 10.6 inches high. It is 6.6 pounds in weight with an eight-day power reserve. The limited edition model is available at select Tiffany & Co. flagship stores globally.
