With Star Wars: The Force Awakens set to hit theaters in just a few weeks, galaxy mania is at an all-time high. The franchise’s newest droid BB-8 was recently launched as a toy and it’s already being immortalized in gold. Disney Consumer Products and Kay Jewelers have together created a stunning new interpretation of the droid in gold and diamonds. 600 hours went into the making of this blinged-out masterpiece and it has been valued at $135,000.
The gold BB-8 is just 4.25″ high and weighs just over 1.5 lbs. Made from 18-carat yellow gold, this iconic piece of merchandise is decked out in around 860 diamonds amounting to 18 carats. The little collectible will be displayed at the Force 4 Fashion exhibit in New York and auctioned off for charity later this month.
We predict that this blinged-out bot will soon make it to our list of most expensive Star Wars memorabilia.
