Miami tops U.S. cities with highest share of luxury hotel rooms

PKF Hospitality Research recently put together a list on luxury hotel rooms in the Top 50 markets in the USA- a list that excludes casino-reliant Las Vegas. The calculations were made based on data from Smith Travel Research. Miami topped the list with a 19.8% share followed closely by New York at 18%. West Palm Beach, Fla. 17.9%, New Orleans 13.7% and Phoenix 13.6% complete the top five.
Smaller cities like West Palm and Tucson also made the Top 10 in terms of luxury representation because of their relatively small size as a market, which goes out to prove that it doesn’t take as many luxury rooms to take up a large percentage.
