Princess Diana’s Chicago Rolls Royce at Volo Auto Museum

Lately, late Princess Diana is being talked about more than usual (not that she was ever forgotten) …………I suppose it’s because 31st Aug’07 is her 10th death anniversary. Recently we put up news about her gown being auctioned for millions of bucks. Today it’s her hand-picked Rolls Royce – the black Spur that is causing the stir. It’s this luxurious car that transported Lady Di for three days throughout her Chicago visit in June 1996. She was en route to a Celebration of Life luncheon at the Drake Hotel, where she stayed. It is at the Volo Auto Museum that this exquisite car, which cradled Her Royal Highness, is being exhibited. It is aptly stated that ‘From the Flying Lady on its hood to the double-R emblem on its trunk, the black, 1996 Spur exudes understated elegance – the perfect conveyance for the 20th century’s most luminous royal.’ This black Rolls Royce with rich leather seats that took her from airport to hotel, symposiums, hospital bedsides, and an elegant benefit gala where she raised money for cancer research. The car now rests in a regal space featuring portraits of the stunning princess and numerous photographs taken during her triumphant Chicago visit.
