This beautiful space in Bandra, sets the mood for a memorable evening, right from its colourful exterior, with lamps and ornate design. Inside, expect cosy tables for two tucked away under artfully sculpted arches with Latin American-themed murals. And throughout the area, comfortable colonial-style chairs to sink into as you dig into a variety of dishes that are authentic in their ethnicity.
Since Latin American food is also deeply rooted in its history and culture, we get the intense flavours and complexity that we’re used to in our own cuisine. Los Cavos blends the familiar with the flamboyant very well. Peruvian Chef Rafael Garcia may attribute his recipes to the lost artifact El Libro Mágico, but he casts a spell on us with his stellar culinary skills.
Be it meat, poultry, or seafood dishes, you get strong, palate-pleasing tastes and superb ingredients. Don’t miss the Seco, succulent lamb chops with a cilantro-chilli sauce, spiced up with the typical Peruvian Sarza Criolla relish made with red onions.
His vegetarian creations pack a punch too. Like the clever Mushroom Ceviche, shimeji, enoki, king oyster, portobello, and button, in a spicy-citrusy, leche de tigre marinade, which is lipsmackingly good.
The gorgeous bar beckons and their mixologists put a lot of Latin-American love into their finely crafted cocktails. Try the Oaxacan Treasure, that features smokey Fandango Mezcal, with notes of dark chocolate and black raisins. It’ll make you think the bartender is a brujo (Peruvian witchdoctor), for sure! The entire Los Cavos experience is certainly voodoo, of the very good kind.
