When we heard that Khar is now home to the new outpost of The Tanjore Tiffin Room, we had to go and put it to test as it serves up some home-style Tamil delicacies in a cosy ambiance. Featuring vintage tiles in neutral tones, the dramatic staircase lit with diyas, antique wood, and glass main door, this one sure is perfect for your Instagram feed.
We make our way inside the dining area where powder blue walls are brought to life with hand-painted murals, quirky mood lighting, and antique furniture. Starting off our meal with the delectable
Jackfruit Cutlet was a great suggestion by our server. It is addictive as ever and lightly coated with bread crumbs. Taste-wise:heaven. We still cannot get over the fluffy and flavourful Mini Gunpowder Idlis. The Paruppu Vade, Mutton Pepper Fry and the delicious Yam and Potato Kolumbu are other culinary masterpieces that cannot be missed. We also love the Egg Bonda-the perfect spicy, batter-fried eggs stuffed with flavorsome potato mix, served with fresh chutney. The Chettinad and Chicken Stew Curry, flavored just right, were literally gold standards in South Indian fare. Pair it with the incredible appams and you will be awestruck at the culinary expertise.
And then, over the finest Mysore Pak and Payasam, we end our unforgettable meal-literally perfect from the start to end.
