Review: Sunday brunchin’ at The Clearing House

It’s not unknown that Ballard Estate has had a reputation of being the city’s shipping and clearing hub. Inspired by this, duo Rishad Nathani and Nitin Kulkarni rightly named their gorgeous restaurant as The Clearing House. I recently went in to try their Sunday brunch and it has become a favourite ever since then.

Going to the interior impression, the foyer floors with cream and teal chairs ooze class. The floor-to-ceiling arched windows which is a source of summery white sunlight and creates an ambience that is perfect for a lazy brunch. I was promptly assisted by the attentive staff and recommended some signature dishes from the menu.

I started off with the lip-smacking Chicken Caesar Salad that comprised romaine, anchovy dressing and grilled garlic crostini. It isn’t surprising that this salad now tops my list of the most delightful salads in the city. Next I noshed on the Truffle Mushroom Brioche. With melted Brie, porcini tapenade, rucola and fig salad, this one had me raving at the very first bite of it.

The Loaded Nachos with refried beans, guacamole, salsa, sour cream is another favourite. For drinks, the fresh and delicious Mango Smoothie had me devouring every sip of it. I also recommend the

Truffle Parmesan Fries and the juicy burgers which are sure to leave you smitten by their flavours.

As for dessert, I indulged in the Passion Fruit Crème Brulee Cheesecake with blackberry compote and mango gel. One bite of this indulgence and you’ll be convinced that calories don’t matter.

The restaurant with its warm vibe and great food ensures a fresh, flavourful meal. Unlike other overwhelming Sunday brunch options in the city, this one doesn’t throw too many options but simply get whatever they do just right. I can only say that The Clearing House is one of the best restaurants to happen to the city and perfect for a dreamy Sunday brunch.

This one is equally suited to a light meal or just a coffee and a book. No wonder, the light flavours, inventive pairings and welcoming vibe has made this restaurant a favourite for those seeking consistency and quality.
