A fundraiser dinner for US President costs $30,800 a plate

It’s not everyday that the President of America and the First Lady grace the occasion of opening of a new restaurant. But when they did decide to pay a visit to celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson’s newest restaurant Red Rooster in Harlem, a special menu was in the offing. The special party fundraiser dinner for President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, saw 50 guests paying as much as $30,800 per plate. So what did one of the president’s favorite chefs put up on the plate?

The first course of dinner consisted of Cornbread with honey butter; Lobster salad with asparagus, peas, hot biscuit with a glass of Hermann J. Wiemer Riesling “Semi-Dry” 2008, Finger Lakes, New York; which was followed with the main course. For the main course, the chef tabled Braised Short Ribs, honey-glazed chokes, spring onions, and red wine reduction with a glass of Brown Estate “Chaos Theory” 2009, Napa Valley. The dinner ended with dessert, which consisted of Chocolate Cake with rhubarb compote, buttermilk sherbert; Sweet Potato Doughnuts with cinnamon and brown sugar, and Ridge Geyserville “Essence” 2007, Sonoma County, California to go with it. My mouth is watering just thinking about all that food!
