The New Year is a few hours away and as always, folks from around the world are travelling to places around the world to welcome the next 12 months and the days gone by. Recently, we decided to look for the most expensive destinations to visit this New Year’s Eve, and we were left pleasantly surprised by the numbers that popped up during our search. According to a survey from CheapHotels.org, Cancun is the most expensive vacation spot in the world to celebrate New Year’s Eve! The Mexican city on the Yucatán Peninsula bordering the Caribbean Sea has quickly turned into a popular tourist attraction, owing to the fact that it offers spectacular views and hosts some of the best parties in the world.

Following Cancun, and not so surprisingly, is Dubai, rated as the second most expensive New Year’s Eve escapade. The third spot was graciously conquered by Florida’s popular resort town of Miami Beach, while New York City and Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro brought the list to a close.
